Xobni is an Outlook plugin that helps you organize your Outlook email account by saving you time in finding emails, conversations, contact information, and attachments. 

 

With Xobni you have a search function that finds the email or person you are looking for immediately as you type.  Search results are split into two categories: people search and email search.  Why has Xobni split the two? Because most of us remember who send us the email as opposed to a keyword in the email itself.  For example, if you are looking for an email that John sent you, just type John, hit the people search and you’ll see all of the conversations you’ve had with John as well as any attachments and contact information. 

 

Xobni searches the web for information on your contacts.  Facebook and LinkedIn are two of the most popular social networks today.  On Xobni, you have access to your contacts profiles on Facebook and LinkedIn.  You can see their Facebook pictures and latest updates.  LinkedIn is a tool to build your professional network of business contacts.  Xobni automatically extracts your contact’s employer, job title, and photo into Xobni.   

 

With conversation threading you’ll see a list of all of the conversations you’ve had with a contact, and they’ll be displayed in order which they occurred.  Finding attachments is also very easy.  You can be writing an email and you would like to open an attachment that somebody sent you.  You don’t have to leave the screen you are at, just open the contact’s profile and under Files Exchanged you’ll see all of the files you and that contact have ever exchanged.

 

Xobni is also the only place outside of Yahoo Mail that lets you search your Yahoo Mail.  All you have to do is enable Yahoo Mail in Xobni.

I gave a presentation to the AITP group on May 21st and promised to post my presentation on the blog. I am a little late but here it is.  I have not look at or updated the presentation in quite a while so it was amazing how many features had been added. There were also several new tools created also. MSN Local Listing Center is another free online advertising tool. I've blogged about free online advertising on Google Maps and Yahoo Local Listings.  MSN is very similar, it lets users find businesses near them or near where they want to go.  If you are a business owner, and like free advertising, make sure you add your business to the three main search engines:  Google, Yahoo, and MSN.  That way, no matter what search engine they use, they'll be able to find your business.

A great way to advertise your business for free online is with Local Listings from Yahoo.  Potential customers visit Yahoo Local Listings to find business around them.  By adding your business for free you’ll know they’ll be able to find you and your website.  Adding your listing is very easy and can be done in four easy steps. 

 

Step 1 - Provide information about your business.  You'll be asked to provide the company’s address, website domain,  hours of operation, payment methods your company accepts, and any additional information you would like to provide such as year established, products and services offered, and professional associations.

Step 2 - Select the category that your business belongs to.  You may choose up to 5 categories to put your business in.

Step 3 -   Review your listing.  You’ll have a chance to see how your listing is going to look and if necessary you can go back and make changes.  You can actually edit your listing online 24/7.

Step 4 - Submit your listing.  Once you submit your listing you’ll be on your way to free online advertising.
